DEMO LAKES
The effectiveness of the developed novel P&R measures, applied at the landscape level and utilizing the 4RF and a PMCA analysis perspective, is going to be demonstrated at three natural lakes selected as case study sites in Italy, Romania and Germany.
The co-development of implementation plans for each demonstration site involves the collaborative creation of detailed and actionable activities to achieve the goals of restoring and safeguarding natural lakes. These plans are tailored to each site’s specific characteristics, challenges and opportunities. They additionally consider each lake’s unique ecological and social context as well as financial and economic perspectives.

Lake Vico is located in the northern Lazio region, central Italy. Lake Dümmer is in northwestern Germany, more specifically – in southern Lower Saxony. Lake Bistreț is in in the south of Dolj county, Romania, on the territory of Bistreț and Cârna communes, about 5 kilometers away from the Danube and the northern border of Bulgaria.
The proposed set of Protection and Restoration measures to be demonstrated at each lake site combines technological, nature based, socio-economic and financial solutions.
